Menudetto vs DISH (2026): the full restaurant suite and the indie digital menu
DISH sells a complete suite — website, online ordering, reservations, POS and payments. Menudetto does one thing: a QR menu you update by chat, voice or photo. An honest comparison of prices (DISH's public Italian price list vs Pro at €19/month VAT included), EU 1169/2011 allergens and languages, with public data and a survey date.
DISH (DISH Digital Solutions GmbH, Düsseldorf) is a complete hospitality platform that, on its own site, says it has been supporting restaurants since 2015: it doesn't sell "a digital menu" — it sells a full suite: website, online ordering, reservations, POS and payments. Menudetto is the opposite by design: an independent product, launched in 2026 from Bari, that does one thing only — the digital menu, updated in chat, by voice or from a photo of the paper menu. They aren't direct rivals: they are two answers to two different questions. This page is here to help you figure out which question is yours.

Pricing: two different logics — and watch the VAT
DISH's Italian price list is public and transparent, with three commitment tiers for each product — a point in their favour. Starter costs €0/month plus a €199 one-off setup fee; Professional Order goes from €44/month (12-month commitment) to €59/month with no commitment, plus €299 activation; the Premium bundle from €67 to €89/month, plus €299. All prices exclude VAT; on Order, a 1.89% fee on gross revenue is added when the guest pays online.
Menudetto: Free at €0 with no activation costs (1 restaurant, 1 menu, classic layout, with QR, allergens and 6 languages included), Pro at €19/month VAT included (unlimited menus and restaurants, dish photos, themes, team), no lock-in — the details are on the pricing page.
A head-to-head comparison would be unfair, though: DISH at those prices includes online ordering or an entire suite; Menudetto at €19 includes the menu only. If you need ordering, the €19 won't replace it. If you only need the menu, the suite's activation fee and subscription pay for features you wouldn't use.
Breadth versus depth
DISH builds an ecosystem: a website with menu and reservation widget, a Google Business Profile configured for you, takeaway/delivery ordering positioned as "0% commission" against third-party platforms, integrated PayPal payments, a dedicated app for orders, card readers and a receipt printer, reservations with automatic reminders. A setup designed to digitalise the restaurant's entire operation, with the hardware that comes with it.
Menudetto digitalises one thing: the menu. In exchange, getting started takes minutes: you photograph the paper menu, the AI transcribes it, you correct it in chat or by voice. Sold-out is flagged with a tap or by saying it out loud in the middle of service. The guest scans the QR and reads, without downloading anything. And on the public menu we expose WebMCP, in-page tools that let your guests' AI assistants consult the menu — a choice we haven't seen anywhere else in our comparison series.
Allergens: a declaration versus a process
DISH Starter declares allergen labelling management (e.g. gluten-free, lactose-free). On the product pages we consulted there is no explicit reference to EU Reg. 1169/2011 and no description of a data verification process — which doesn't mean they're missing, only that they aren't documented publicly.
Menudetto treats allergens as a compliance process: the AI proposes the 14 allergens of EU Reg. 1169/2011 dish by dish, but nothing goes online without the explicit confirmation of a person at the restaurant. Legal responsibility stays where it belongs — with the restaurateur — with AI as an accelerator, not a substitute. If you want to line up the 14 allergens of your menu in the meantime, the free allergen table works without signing up.
Languages
DISH declares multilingual content for the restaurant website and AI translation in the Premium bundle, with a "15+ Languages Available" claim on the homepage; the list of menu languages isn't published on the pages we consulted. Menudetto translates automatically into 6 languages: Italian, English, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese. If your guests need languages beyond these six, we are the limit — and we say so plainly.
When to choose DISH
- You need your own online ordering (takeaway/delivery with the 0% commission positioning) or reservations with table management: Menudetto doesn't offer them.
- You want a single provider for website, ordering, reservations, POS and payments, with a discounted bundle and hardware included in the scope.
- You're looking for declared scale and experience (active since 2015, 350,000+ registered restaurants according to their site, ISO 27001:2022) and multi-channel support by phone/email/WhatsApp with a 24/7 portal.
- You value public prices with explicit commitment tiers: you know upfront what you're signing.
When to choose Menudetto
- You need the digital menu only, right now: live in minutes from a photo of the paper menu, with no activation costs and no contractual lock-in.
- You want to update the menu by voice or in chat during service, sold-out included.
- Allergens are something you want to manage as compliance (EU Reg. 1169/2011, mandatory human confirmation), not just as a label.
- Your budget is €19/month VAT included — or zero, on the Free plan — and you'd rather pay only for what you use.
- You accept the flip side: no ordering, no reservations, no POS, 6 languages, and a young product (2026) growing alongside its first restaurateurs.
