Digital QR menu: 7 platforms compared (2026)
Seven digital QR menu platforms compared with a single yardstick: starting prices, free plans, menu creation and updates, languages, the 14 allergens of EU Reg. 1169/2011, ordering and POS. Data collected on 2026-07-22 from the official pages of Stello, Menutech, FineDine, DISH, Qromo and NordQR — with a declared conflict of interest: Menudetto is one of the seven.
This comparison is written by us at Menudetto, so let's start with a declaration of interest: we are one of the seven platforms being compared. Precisely for that reason we used a single yardstick for everyone — public data, collected on the same day from the official pages, our own limits included. If you need table ordering or reservations, for instance, Menudetto doesn't do them today: you'll find that written below, along with who does them well.
The comparison at a glance
Seven platforms, the same criteria for all: starting price, free plan or trial, how the menu is created and updated, languages, allergens, ordering/POS and main market.
- Menudetto — Pro at €19/month VAT included; permanent free plan (1 restaurant, 1 menu, 6 languages); the menu is created and updated via chat, voice or a photo of the paper menu; 6 languages (it/en/es/fr/de/pt), included in the Free plan too; the 14 allergens of EU Reg. 1169/2011 detected by AI with mandatory human confirmation; no ordering/POS; main market: Italy.
- Stello — Base at €24.99/month + VAT; permanent free plan (1 menu, 50 dishes, 2 languages, no card required); import from photo/PDF or manual editor; up to 15 languages (from the Base plan); automatic allergen assignment + restaurateur confirmation before publishing; no ordering (customer choice list, without payment); main market: Italy.
- Menutech — Mini at €20/month; no permanent free plan, 10-day trial without card; web editor, templates, AI features on a monthly quota; 16 languages listed; the 14 EU FIC 1169/2011 allergens detected automatically; order-taking as an add-on (from €60/month); main market: Germany/EU, hotels and contract catering.
- FineDine — Starter at €27/month (billed annually, 20% discount); no permanent free plan, 14-day trial (max 80 items); web dashboard with templates, from scratch or import; up to 40 languages (44 according to the help center), from the Growth plan; per-dish allergen warnings (generic regulatory reference); ordering yes: Order & Pay, POS Lite, reservations; main market: international.
- DISH — Starter at €0/month + €199 one-off (excl. VAT); no trial declared on the pages we checked; self-service editor inside the restaurant's website; "15+ languages" declared, AI translation in the Premium bundle; allergen labelling (generic regulatory reference); ordering yes: online orders at 0% commission, reservations, POS, payments; main market: Europe (15 country sites).
- Qromo — Basic at €29–39/month (two prices displayed on the site); permanent free plan (smartphone POS, fiscal compliance) and 30-day trial on paid plans; web editor with real-time updates; "+50" languages declared (up to "more than 100" on the translation page); allergen list ("current regulations"); ordering yes: Order & Pay, POS, KDS, payments; main market: Italy.
- NordQR — Lite/Pro/Max prices not displayed on the site we checked; permanent free plan (1 menu, 20 dishes, 1 language) and 14-day Pro trial without card; drag-and-drop editor with instant sync; from 1 to 10 languages depending on the plan; per-dish allergen tags (the blog cites EU Reg. 1169/2011); no ordering (no feature observed); main market: Spain.
Starting prices and free plans
Four platforms out of seven have a permanent free plan: Menudetto (1 restaurant, 1 menu, classic layout, with QR, allergens and 6 languages included), Stello (1 menu, 50 dishes, 2 languages, no card required), Qromo (whose Free plan even includes a smartphone POS with unlimited receipts and electronic invoices) and NordQR (1 menu, 20 dishes, 500 scans per month). Menutech and FineDine bet on the trial instead — 10 days without card and 14 days with all features but a maximum of 80 items, respectively — while DISH Starter costs €0/month but requires a €199 one-off setup fee (excl. VAT).
On the first paid plan, watch two details that change the real bill: VAT and one-off costs. Menudetto Pro costs €19/month VAT included; Stello Base €24.99/month + VAT; Menutech starts at €20/month; FineDine Starter at €27/month but billed annually (the annual price is shown as 20% off the monthly one); Qromo displays two prices per plan (Basic at €29 and €39/month) with no explicit label saying which is the annual rate; DISH adds one-off activation fees from €99 to €299 depending on the product.
How you create and update the menu
All seven use a web editor; the differences lie in the starting points and the daily gestures. Stello imports the menu from a photo or a PDF and declares creation "in 2 minutes"; FineDine starts from pre-filled templates, from scratch or from an import; NordQR bets on drag-and-drop with instant sync to the QR codes; DISH and Qromo emphasise real-time self-service updates, with no agencies in between. Menudetto is the only one of the seven with voice editing: the menu is created and updated via chat, with a photo of the paper menu or by literally speaking — and sold-out is flagged with one tap or by voice, useful in the middle of service. On the public menu, Menudetto also exposes WebMCP, in-page tools for customers' AI assistants: at the moment none of the other six declares it.
Languages
Here the ranking is clear-cut and we're not on top. Qromo declares automatic translation into more than 50 languages (its dedicated page goes as far as "more than 100"), FineDine up to 40 (44 according to its help center, but from the Growth plan upwards), Menutech lists 16 with translations declared "human translated and curated", DISH declares "15+ languages", Stello reaches 15 from the Base plan, NordQR scales from 1 to 10 languages depending on the plan. Menudetto stops at 6 (Italian, English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese), which are however included in the Free plan too. If you serve guests from dozens of countries, FineDine's and Qromo's numbers are a concrete argument.
Allergens
The 14 allergens of EU Reg. 1169/2011 are where the differences get serious. Menutech is the most explicit among the competitors: a dedicated page declares support for all 14 EU FIC 1169/2011 allergens, detected automatically with icons and an allergen matrix generated by the software. Stello assigns allergens automatically and declares a restaurateur confirmation step before publishing. NordQR offers per-dish tags and cites the regulation on its blog. FineDine, DISH and Qromo declare allergen labelling features but, on the pages we checked, with generic regulatory references. Menudetto detects the 14 allergens with AI and makes human confirmation mandatory before the menu goes online: on food safety, the last word stays with whoever knows their own recipes. If you want to start from the full picture of the 14, the free allergen table is a good place to begin.
Orders, POS and reservations
If you're looking for a platform that handles orders and payments beyond the menu, three names out of seven fit the bill. FineDine integrates Order & Pay, its own POS (POS Lite) and online reservations, plus a website and a CRM. DISH offers online orders for takeaway and delivery at 0% commission (1.89% on online payments), reservations, POS and payments, with support via WhatsApp too. Qromo combines menu, Order & Pay, a till with fiscal compliance, KDS and payments including Satispay and Klarna, with Glovo and Deliveroo integrations. Menutech offers order-taking as an add-on from €60/month. Stello stops at a customer choice list without payment, while NordQR and Menudetto have no ordering features: if you need them, look elsewhere.
When to choose each platform
Stello — Permanent free plan without card, menu import from photo or PDF with creation declared "in 2 minutes", 15 languages from the first paid plan, an allergen confirmation flow before publishing and dedicated landing pages for 6 verticals, beach clubs and hotels included. A solid choice for the Italian venue starting from the paper menu that wants a supplier focused on the national market.
Menutech — The most structured compliance positioning of the group: a feature page dedicated to the 14 EU FIC 1169/2011 allergens, translations declared curated from certified sources, verticals with dedicated pricing for healthcare and care homes, and an EU Horizon 2020 co-funding declared on the site. Suited to hotels, canteens and contract catering that print multilingual daily menus.
FineDine — The broadest suite: QR menu, Order & Pay, POS Lite, reservations, AI website builder and CRM under a single brand, with translations up to 40 languages and brands such as Hilton, Grand Hyatt and Pizza Hut shown as customers on its site. The natural choice for hotels and international operations with a highly multilingual clientele. For the point-by-point comparison, see Menudetto vs FineDine.
DISH — Declares over 350,000 registered restaurants on its site, has dedicated sites for 15 European countries with public prices in Italy, and the "0% commission" positioning on online orders is a concrete economic argument against delivery platforms. ISO 27001 certification declared. Suited to the restaurant that wants website, orders and reservations from a single structured supplier.
Qromo — The most complete Italian all-in-one of the comparison: QR menu, orders, a till with unlimited receipts and electronic invoices already in the Free plan, KDS, payments from Apple Pay to Satispay, Glovo and Deliveroo integrations and a 30-day trial. On its site it declares over 1,000 customers in Europe. For the venue that wants to replace till and menu with a single system, it's the candidate to try.
NordQR — Essential and direct: free forever with 16 physical QR stickers included, drag-and-drop editor, native multi-restaurant under a single account and a 14-day Pro trial without card. Active since 2021, based in Barcelona. Suited to those who want just a clean QR menu, with no management suite around it, especially on the Spanish market.
When to choose Menudetto
Menudetto (launched in 2026 by Mattia Mellone, Bari) does one thing only and does it in the fastest way we knew how to build: the menu is created and updated in chat, by voice or with a photo of the paper menu — we're the only one of the seven with voice editing — the AI detects the 14 allergens of EU Reg. 1169/2011 but publishes nothing without your confirmation, and the guest gets a QR menu with no app, translated into 6 languages, with WebMCP for AI assistants. Pro costs €19/month VAT included, the Free plan is permanent.
We're just as clear about the limits: no orders, POS or table payments (Qromo, DISH and FineDine have them), no reservations (DISH and FineDine do), 6 languages against Menutech's 16, FineDine's 40 or the more than 50 declared by Qromo. And we're a young product: no customer base to brag about, for now. If your problem is "keeping the menu up to date and compliant without wasting time on it", we're the simplest choice of the group; if you need a full suite, you'll find solid alternatives above.
Methodology note
Data collected on 2026-07-22 from the public pages of stello.it, menutech.com, finedinemenu.com, dish.co, qromo.it and nordqr.com. Prices and features can change: always refer to the official site. If you represent one of the platforms mentioned and find an inaccuracy, write to us and we'll correct it right away. Scale claims (customers, restaurants, languages) are reported as declared by the respective vendors on their sites; where two pages of the same site report different numbers, we've listed both.
If you want to try Menudetto's approach, on menudetto.com the Free plan doesn't ask for a card. And if you're among the first 100 Founders, a year of Pro is on us — again, no card required.
